Meet the Stars

Zuzu

Pussy is a provocative exploration of misogynistic projection, inspired by the truism, "People who hate cats are misogynists." Through the lens of this concept, the film delves into the ways femininity is devalued and objectified, drawing parallels between the way women and cats are often stereotyped. The film explores the playful and independent nature of cats and how society has drawn negative parallels between these traits and the sensuality of women.

As the work develops, I plan to expand the narrative to also examine internalized misogyny, exploring how these cultural projections can become embedded within the self. This deepened exploration will address how women internalize societal expectations, often policing themselves and others according to these harmful, limiting standards. Through a combination of movement, sound, and symbolic imagery, Pussy will use the visual metaphor of the cat to critique both external societal pressures and the internalized shame and self-surveillance women experience.

The film aims to challenge these projections and, ultimately, reclaim agency by turning the camera back onto these imposed stereotypes, inviting the audience to reflect on their own biases and complicity in perpetuating them. Pussy is not only a visual critique but an embodied commentary on the complex relationships between gender, identity, and societal perception.
